January 15 2011 - we did things

today we woke up on the the train and where picked up in a car that drove us like ten feet.

it was ridiculous.

Then we got on our cruise ship of which there were literally 150. this made it very confusing because along with there being so many cruise ships, all of the cruise ships looked the same, also they are made to be stacked outwards so only one is visible but a bunch can be behind it, thankfully we eventually found it and got on. The town we where docked in was called Aswan so we took a tour of boring things in aswan and then bought a sword and bow and arrow.

January 12 2011- Flight to Egypt and other stuff

Today i got up at 2:00am to catch our flight to Egypt. I was able to to sleep a bit more on the plane but i still was drinking caffeine all day. first we went to a run down depressing village thing and then to a market where i bought a knife. we spent the night on a overnight train.

January 11 2011- Hotel room because my mom has the car

Today we were stuck in the hotel room so I did like 75% of my science homework. And then went to bed at like 9:00 because our flight leaves at 4:50am and so I had to be up at 2:00am.

January 10 2011- more stuff

today we went on a game drive and saw maybe 300 pelicans.  At one point these cute baby monkeys started crawling all over our car, it took about 15 minute to get them alll of by tapping on the glass and reving the engine. then we drove to yet another game park and took a 3 hour hot, boring, and dusty hike up and down mount logonaut. we then drove back to Nairobi and on the way bought a sheepskin rug.

January 9 2011- stuff

today went went to an acheological site where they found some of the first human tools. and then through a game park to our hotel where there was a traditonal tribal dance. the light in our hotel kept going out but eventually they repaired the problem and we got to eat. thankfully it was woth it because the food there was a buffet of gormuet foods which was reallly good.

january 8 2011 - hike and game drive

today we visited hells gate national park, which is in the Great Rift valley 90km from Nairobi. we saw some more animals and took a guided hike through a canyon. we were accompanied by a distinct sulfur smell. This smell was our unpleasant companion for a third of our hike. the hotel we stayed at food was terrible.

January 7 - iv'e run out of things to say about being bored and driving

This morning i felt terrible and couldn't figure out why. then it hit me, i hadn't eaten in 36 hours so i ate 36 hours worth of food in about ten minutes. witch unsurprisingly made me feel bad differently. after laying down and trying not to throw up. we got in the car and drove through the slums which where depressing to our hotel, where i destroyed my mom at pool. (she sunk the 8 ball after like four turns)

January 6 2011- BORED

Today i was stuck at the hotel by myself. i did homework and watched the worst kind of TV. Bad kenyan hotel daytime tv!!!

January 5 2011 -...

Today was uneventful. we drove back from treetops and my parents did work and i watched bad Kenyan tv.

January 4 2011- second day of treetops

Today i woke up to find that you couldn't stay at treetops during the day. so at 8:30am they put in the bus and forced us back to there sister hotel till 3:30pm. Thankfully there sister hotel had internet so i could post some of my blog stuff and download some tv shows. my dad then hauled me on a walk where i got stung about 15 times by different bugs. the second night at the treetops was about the same as the first but its less impressive the second time.

January 3 2011- treetops and hospital

today we got back in a car a drove to a hospital for my moms meeting. it was more derelict than western hospitals and most of the hallways where outside, after about 45 minutes of the same presentation i've seen my mom give about a million times we got dropped of at the shuttle to treetops. treetops is a very famous and old hotel in the middle of the Aberdare wildlife park. It's famous for two reasons, firstly because it looms over a watering hole that they've surrounded by a fence allowing you to get close to the animals on the ground and in the hotel. and secondly because its where queen Elizabeth the second was staying when she found out her father died meaning that she would be queen. treetops has a very British vibe including tea at 4:30, and on the first night we saw 13 elephants in a group. 4 babies and 9 adults. the other cool thing was that i went down to the bottom of the hotel and got like 5 feet from an elephant through a single pane of glass before it noticed me.

January 2 2011- day of stuff

Today we went to a zoo that was supposed to be a wildlife park, and a dance thing. it wasn't especially active.

Today we spent forever in the car. It was a blast...

December 31 2010-third day of safari

today we went to a massiai village, and then through Goro goro crater. We saw rhinos, flamingos, and other of the same animals that we saw before. We stayed on the edge of the crater and had a great view.

December 30 2010-second day of safari

Today when I woke up there where monkeys in the trees. Then later I ate food. We saw a bunch more animals today. hartebeests, topis, grants, and Thomson, types of gazelles, Also zebras, elands, dikdiks, giraffes, hippos, elephants, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, a leopard, baboons, and vervon monkeys. Also the lodge had these weird ass giant gunia pigs called hyraxes.

December 29 2010-First day of safari

Today we went on our first day of safari; we saw some animals that where big, and we looked at this rock that was important for something or other.

December 28 2010-First day

Woke up. Tired. Hotel room. gross. pineapple juice at breakfast. Yum. Drive to museum. ipod. First part of museum . yawn. Saw first human remains. meh... Stuffed birds. boring. snakes. scared. car ride to look at different hotels. meh. 6 hours on shuttle to Arusha, Tanzina sourounded by shantys. Sad/bored/ipod. arrived at hotel. ok. eat. yum. sleep. um no emotion goes with sleeping. make dumb joke on blog. no friends :(

December 27 2010-Arival

left grandparents house in Atlanta Georgia at 2:00 December 26. Arrived at hotel in Nairobi with 3 hours of sleep 3:00 December 27 Georgia time. yay...
